Policies Make Business Impossible

Mr. Rich Fairbank

Dear Mr. Fairbank:
I'm writing to express my frustration and disappointment in Capitol One. We've been a customer for over 10 years. We've never been late for ONE payment and we've never maintained a balance. We've charged hundreds of thousands of dollars and we continue to have nearly perfect credit.

We called today to fix a problem on a new business account. It was set up with a $1,000 limit which is a ridiculously small amount for any business man who has to travel.

Let me ask you sir--could you travel with a credit card which has only a $1,000 limit? Impossible. Air fare and hotels on one trip and you're past your limit in just a few days.
We've asked repeatedly for supervisors to consider our situation. We have another business account with a $20,000 limit. Why not put half of that amount and transfer it?
I'm even willing to deposit $5,000 so I have funds there. "That won't help. When you charges exceed $1,000, it won't matter that you have extra money in the account."

We use the credit card for more than convenience. We use it to track business expenses and to help us with our bookkeeping.

We are no different than other small businesses.

I was also told that the corporate office will not take phone calls and that the only way to reach you is with this letter.

Here is my promise to you. We will cancel our accounts with your company as soon as we are able to manage it. We will never do business with you again and we will tell everyone we know about the great difficulty you inflict on small businesses.

Is this the kind of reputation you want?

If your reply is anything like the rest of the people we've talked to today, it will be obvious that Capitol One does NOT care about the business of one small business man.

I'll do my best to also forward this information via social media to as many consumers and small businesses as I possibly can.

If you're reading this via some form of social media, please fax your concern to 888-259-3021 or send an email to Capitol One about the Blog called Capitol One Hurts Small Business. If I'm not mistaken, consumers and citizens have bent over backward to save financial institutions. It is time we let them know that we're not asleep at the wheel and that we'll find other ways to do business without depending on their policies which show no concern for the small business person. You can forward this url to them and let them know that one small voice has the ability to be heard around the world!
